Moving Meowtains with Giving Tuesday Donations
Moving Meowtains on Giving Tuesday
By Lydia Durkovic
The holidays are a reflective time. It’s a time when many of us take stock of our blessings. It’s also a time when some of us consider the voiceless, starving and injured, or those sitting in a kill shelter knowing death may be close. All-volunteer, non-profit, PetSmart Charities partner Cat Crusaders’ cat/kitten rescue work has been the antithesis of these considerations, bringing care, comfort, shelter and second chances every day of the year since 2010. And, in the interest of continuing to provide a voice to homeless cats/kittens in need of care and shelter, then helping them find forever, loving homes, it is Cat Crusaders’ hope you will choose to include us in your holiday giving, particularly during Giving Tuesday. Consider helping us Move Meowtains!
“Giving” means “SAVING”
The word “giving” means something different to everyone. For most, it’s a gift or act of kindness, something that’s often inconsequential, but brings happiness to another. For some, “giving” means “saving”. With every dollar donated to Cat Crusaders, you are quite literally saving the life of a very real feline that is – at this exact moment – either hungry, terrified, and hurt on the streets, or sitting in a shelter waiting for their life to end by euthanization–before they’ve really even gotten a chance to live.
Why give to Cat Crusaders?
Each month thousands of homeless cats and kittens are euthanized in the state of Florida, many in the Tampa Metro area. During kitten seasons, those numbers skyrocket. Cat Crusaders, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) registered non-profit, no-kill rescue organization that provides rescue-to-adoption and spay/neuter services for homeless cats and kittens in the Tampa Metro Area. We’re dedicated to saving as many of these lives as possible. Over the years, with the help of donors just like you, we’ve been able to rescue and find loving homes for thousands of cats and kittens, and have helped thousands more through feral cat trap-neuter-vaccinate-return (TNVR) efforts.
Right now, we are in the midst of a very real, unexpected kitten season due to a series of warm winters. Our organization is scrambling to try to save as many cats as possible. You shouldn’t be able to put a price on life, but when it comes to animal rescue, sadly there is one.
The cost of saving a life.
It costs our organization $98 to save a kitten life–an amount that covers spaying/neutering, microchipping, basic tests/vaccines and de-worming. For sick kittens, or those that develop health issues while in the Cat Crusaders adoption program, the real costs are significantly higher.
Please help us Move Meowtains.
We’ve set a fundraising goal of $5,000 for our Moving Meowntains campaign, an amount that would allow us to save 50 in-need homeless cats/kittens from euthanization and give them a chance at a brighter life filled with love. Whether it’s by donating, sharing our emails or social media posts with your network of friends and family or fundraising for our cause, we hope you will help us reach our goal.
